What’s Happening at Park Church for Children?

Worship Time
Children are always welcome in Worship. As you enter the sanctuary, pick up a Worship Activity Kit found in the black crate at the Ramp Door entry to the sanctuary.
During worship, children sit with their families until the Children’s Sermon. After their special time up front with our pastor or other presenter, children 5 and under (not in Kindergarten) may be escorted upstairs where we currently provide care in our Worship Time Activity Place. Older children return to their families for the remainder of our Worship Service
| Child Care during Worship and the Church School Hour The Worship Time Activity Place (Room 210) provides a time of care and play for infants through 5 year olds (pre-kindergarten) during our Worship time. Staffed by loving volunteers, this room provides a safe, nurturing place for your child while you attend worship. Children are welcome from the beginning of the Worship Service or may be escorted upstairs by a parent or guardian following the Children’s Sermon. |
Church School
Church School begins at 9:30 a.m. with children through the fifth grade being greeted at the table outside the Library on the first floor.
Our Pre-school and Pre-Kindergarten students then head up to Room 210 to experience God’s Word using David C. Cook’s Reformation Press Bible-in-Life materials. Through Bible story, craft and other activities, the young ones will learn, at their level, about what it means to live a life with Jesus as their king in a classroom that offers a safe environment for these young learners where they can play, sing, laugh, listen and learn together. My Sunday Pictures come home each week and provide a link for families to the lesson of the day as well as other activities designed to encourage and strengthen families.
Infants and Toddlers are welcome to join in the Pre-school group where they will be loved and cared for while parents are in class.
Kindergarten through Fifth Grade students head into the Music Suite for the large group portion of their morning together. Children will experience Kid Connection, a large group–small group approach to children’s Sunday school. Kid Connection, from Faith Alive Resources, provides large group and small group leaders with material that allow them to share God and His Word with excitement and enthusiasm. Large group is a time of worship, praise and Bible learning and in small group time our K-2nd grade students (Room 215) and 3rd – 5th grade students (Room 208) connect with their small group leaders and dive deeper into the Bible story. Both times offer reformed teaching that believes every story in the Bible tells us about God and must be understood as a part of the one story of God’s redemption and restoration of this fallen world through Jesus Christ. And the learning doesn’t end on Sunday morning. Kid Connection provides a monthly magazine, called Guess What!, that connects our ministry with the families of the kids we serve through story, review and family time ideas for all to enjoy.
Children are picked at 10:40 a.m. at their respective classrooms.
Children’s Ministry Opportunities
As we are called to be a people of God seeking to know Christ and to make Him known, Park desires to minister to and nurture even the youngest among us. The Children’s Ministries of Park Presbyterian Church prayerfully exist to provide children, both those that have grown up in the church and those new to the Christian faith, with a variety of opportunities to meet Christ face to face, to know of His unceasing love for them, to learn to live lives devoted to Him and to desire to share Him with others. Fellowship, fun, study, service and worship activities give the kids a place to go and a place to grow as they learn about God and about his faithfulness to all generations.
Journey The Adventure of a Lifetime
A new ministry for 3rd-5th graders launches at Park January 2009 called Journey345. The mission of Journey345 The Adventure of a Lifetime is to offer third, fourth and fifth graders the opportunity to experience a high energy, deeply relational “Jr.” youth group complete with meaningful lessons, crazy games, fun leaders and delicious snacks.
For this season, we will be using a study entitled “The Call of God” from Children Desiring God. We desire to provide an opportunity for spiritual growth and hope for the children to experience discipleship through small group interactions. We will work on community building through fun and games and will be encouraging evangelism skills as we provide an exciting and safe place for kids to invite their friends.
Please see the Journey link for a copy of the brochure which includes Journey dates and the Registration Form.
